Sir James Smith's School

Chief Executive Officer/Trust Leader – North Cornwall Learning Trust, Camelford Cornwall

Permanent, part time post (FTE 0.6) starting September 2020

Leadership Scale, point 24 - £72,306

The challenge

Leading and managing a truly inclusive community of small schools with high standards and excellent outcomes on a shoe-string budget in an isolated rural setting.

The context

Five schools - one secondary and four primaries - set in a predominately coastal-rural area. The NCLT is the largest local employer. We have strong communities keen to support their local school. Staff and community partners work hard to raise standards whilst striving to overcome the constraints that stem from isolation and deprivation. Our schools are important community assets and contribute significantly to pupils’ entitlement and opportunity.

The person will display

The vision to see how things could be better; professional commitment that enables you to lead the organisation with drive and passion; excellent communication, listening and negotiating skills for a range of purposes and audiences; emotional resilience, stamina and flexibility when dealing with challenging issues and circumstances; high expectations of self and others; the ability to lead and manage with flair, tenacity and the ‘bandwidth’ to take all eventualities in their stride.
